Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

1. About Stori

Stori is an online marketplace that connects buyers with independent South African artisans and craft creators. By using our platform, you agree to these terms. Stori operates in accordance with South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECT Act).

2. Buyer terms

2.1 Purchases

When you place an order on Stori, you are entering into a purchase agreement directly with the vendor. Stori facilitates the transaction but is not the seller of record for physical goods. Payment is processed securely via PayFast.

2.2 Pricing and availability

All prices are listed in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Inventory is managed by individual vendors. In the event that an item is unavailable after your order is placed, you will receive a full refund.

2.3 Delivery

Delivery is fulfilled by individual vendors. Estimated delivery times are provided at checkout. Stori is not liable for delays caused by third-party couriers or circumstances outside a vendor's control.

3. Vendor terms

3.1 Eligibility

Vendors must be invited to join Stori and must complete the onboarding process. By joining, you confirm that all products listed are genuinely handcrafted and accurately described.

3.2 Prohibited items

Vendors may not list mass-produced, counterfeit, stolen, hazardous, or illegal goods. Stori reserves the right to remove listings and suspend vendors who violate these rules without notice.

3.3 Settlements

Vendor settlements are processed manually by the Stori team following order fulfilment. Settlement timelines will be communicated individually. Stori reserves the right to withhold settlement in cases of dispute, fraud, or policy violation.

3.4 Commission

Platform commission rates are agreed upon during vendor onboarding and may be updated with 30 days written notice.

4. Intellectual property

Vendors retain ownership of their product images, descriptions, and creative content. By uploading content to Stori, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display and promote that content on the platform and in marketing materials, subject to your promotion consent settings.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Stori's liability for any claim arising from use of the platform is limited to the value of the order in dispute. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages.

6. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
